D.J. Shockley was a two-time First Team All-State quarterback (1999, 2000) with the North Clayton Eagles. In addition to earning First Team distinction by the AJC and GSWA, Shockley was named a 2000 Parade All-American. As a senior, he passed for 1,861 yards and 11 touchdowns, while rushing for 864 yards and another eight touchdowns. His junior season, he passed for 1,352 yards and 17 touchdowns, while rushing for 733 yards and nine touchdowns. Shockley was considered the consensus No. 18 recruit nationally and the No. 1 dual-threat prospect in the Class of 2001. He was the No. 3 prospect in Georgia and took his talents to the Georgia Bulldogs. In Athens, Shockley started for the first time as a senior, passing for 2,588 yards and 24 touchdowns while leading the Bulldogs to an SEC title (2005). In his lone season as a full-time starter, he earned SEC Offensive Player of the Year. After his collegiate career, Shockley was selected in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and spent five NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. He has worked as a color commentator and studio analyst for college football broadcasts, Atlanta Falcons coverage and also high school football coverage with GPB and is currently the Sports Director for WAGA-TV (Fox 5 Atlanta).
