Jon Stinchcomb starred as an offensive tackle at Parkview High. He was a 1997 Parade and USA Today All-American, an AJC Super 11 pick and the Atlanta Touchdown Club’s Lineman of the Year during Parkview’s Class 4A championship season. He was a four-year starter, and the Gwinnett County TD Club’s Offensive Lineman of the Year as a sophomore, junior and senior. At UGA, Stinchcomb was a three-time Academic All-American and a four-time Academic All-SEC selection. In 2002, he also earned the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Award, joining his brother Matt who was honored in 1998. On the field, Stinchcomb was a two-time All-SEC selection, and a member of the All-SEC freshman team. He helped pave the way for the Bulldogs’ offense in 2002 that led the SEC in scoring (32.6 PPG) and won the SEC Championship. The New Orleans Saints selected Stinchcomb in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He took over the starting right tackle position for the Saints in 2006 and started 86 consecutive games. Stinchcomb was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and won a Super Bowl with the Saints that same season. He retired from the NFL in 2011. Today, he is the chairman of the board for the Next Generation organization, which promotes the development of character-building and chaplaincy programs in local schools.
